Miriam Zeghmi, MSW

Miriam Zeghmi teaches the English section of the SAT prep. She believes in students’ ability to rise up to any challenge and to excel in their learning. Miriam believes in the power of language and teaches her students to craft their work with confidence using critical-thinking skills and learned expertise. She is invested in the growth and wellbeing of her students as holistic people who bring great creativity and lived experiences to class. She is excited to meet students and develop classroom cultures where everyone feels a sense of belonging and investment. Miriam has been with Scholars and Leaders from the very beginning!
Miriam holds a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Washington, where she concentrated in Mental Health Practice. She has two bachelor degrees, one in Early Childhood and Family Studies and the other in Communication Studies centering in Social-Cultural communication also from the University of Washington.
Miriam’s teaching career initially began when she taught Grade 1 homeroom subjects at Coral Int. School, Jeddah in 2011. She then became Montessori trained at Bellz, Jeddah in 2012. Miriam never really stepped out of a classroom as an educator while completing her undergraduate degrees, volunteering her time to teach Arabic at the Idris Mosque in Seattle, and tutoring students at Northgate and John Roger’s Elementary. Miriam then taught kindergarten at Tarteel and supported teenagers studying homeschooling curriculums at Dar ul-Uloom in Bellevue. Miriam taught pre- K at Iqra, and taught reading, comprehension and math at Linda-mood Bell. Miriam instructs English SAT, PSAT and Essay Writing to middle schoolers and high schoolers at Bellevue Children’s Academy.
